The first national meeting of the SIG was held on Friday, July 4, 1997
at the Annual Gathering of American Mensa in Birmingham, Alabama.

Having one when I needed it probably saved me and my date from serious harm one night about 35 years ago. The Second Amendment SIG of American Mensa was approved as a new SIG in the fall of 1996 and was announced in the December 1996 issue of The Mensa Bulletin. In March 1997, Amy White offered internet webspace in her personal WebCatt web, and this website appeared in April 1997. In March 2003, Amy moved the web to a different URL and Editor Bob Smith took over as SIG Webmaster.
